Testing, Adjusting & Balancing
Airflow and hydronic measurement, system adjustment, and balancing verified against design documents.
TAB work confirms that air and water distribution systems deliver the quantities shown on the mechanical design documents. Readings are taken at terminals, trunks, and equipment, systems are adjusted within their available range, and final values are recorded against design tolerance.
Typical Scope
- Supply, return, exhaust, and outside-air measurement at terminals and equipment
- Fan and pump readings: RPM, amperage, static pressure, and external pressure profiles
- Proportional balancing of air distribution and hydronic circuits
- Terminal unit and VAV box verification at minimum and maximum flow
- Deficiency logging where a system cannot reach design without corrective work
Deliverable
A certified TAB report with instrument list, test dates, as-found and as-left values, design comparison, and a written deficiency summary.
Where It Applies
Commercial new construction, tenant build-out, multifamily, retrofit, and code or permit close-out.
Standards & References
